Founding and Development of BHAEEC
· In 1990£¬Zhang Luping started to shelter the homeless animals in her office£»
· In 1995£¬with the increasing number of the animals rescued, Zhang Luping had to “hide” in the countryside of Shi Li He and Da Xing County for over 2 years with her over 100 animals£»
· In 1997£¬Zhang Luping founded the “Beijing Human and Animal Environmental Education Center”, and renovated a deserted military base in Mentougou District. She moved there with her around 200 animals and lived for 4 years£»
· In 2001£¬Zhang Luping sold her remaining private properties to raise enough money to relocate her center in Changping, with support of IFAW (International Foundation of Animal Welfare) and RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals)£»
· Up to now£¬BHAEEC has rescued and sheltered over 1,000 homeless and abused animals¡£
Recognition from Domestic and International Society
· In 2001£¬BHAEEC was awarded as the Model Base for Companion Animals Protection by IFAW£»
· In 2001£¬Zhang Luping was awarded as the Outstanding Contributor of Animal Protection by IFAW£»
· In 2001£¬BHAEEC was awarded the Certificate of Association by RSPCA, which is the first time that RSPCA awarded such certificates to a privately-run animal shelter in the world£»
· In 2001£¬the renowned animal behavior scientist, Dr. Jane Goodall visited BHAEEC and gave very high comments on its contribution to animal protection. In 2005, Dr. Jane Goodall made a special visit again to the center£»
· In 2003£¬BHAEEC was nominated as “Beijing Patriotism Education Center” by the Beijing Municipal Government£»
· In 2004£¬Zhang Luping was awarded “Outstanding Female Contributor” by the Beijing Women’s Union, the General Labor’s Union, and Beijing Personnel Bureau£»
· In 2005£¬BHAEEC was awarded the “Outstanding Organization”; Zhang Luping was awarded the “Outstanding Individual Contributor” by the Beijing Municipal Government£»
· In 2005£¬Zhang Luping was nominated by the international committee of “One Thousand Ladies in the World Competing for the Nobel Peace Award for 2005” and was listed among the one thousand outstanding woman peace contributors.

International Exchange Activities of Animal Protection Attended by BHAEEC
· In Feb. 2000, Zhang Luping was invited to attend the International Animal Protection Conference in the U.S.
· In Sept. 2003, Zhang Luping was invited to attend the Asian Animal Protection Conference in HK.
· In May 2004, Zhang Luping paid a visit to the States as invited by “Best Friends Animal Society”.
· In Mar. 2006, Zhang Luping was invited to attend the Animal Protection Conference in Guangzhou organized by Asian Animal Protection Foundation.
Zhang Luping has delivered speeches on animal protection and respect for life in over 100 universities and colleges including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Beijing Normal University, Renmin University of China, China University of Political Science and Law, China Agricultural University, Beijing University of Technology, Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology, North China Electric Power University, He Nan Agricultural University, and so on.
BHAEEC has received around 30,000 students and teachers from universities, high schools, primary schools, and kindergartens, including the well-known universities like Tsinghua University and Peking University, as well as Western Academy of Beijing, Beijing International School, Beijing Lei Feng Primary School, Beijing Blue-Sky Kindergarten, “Roots and Shoots” clubs of The Jane Goodall Institute China, and so on.
