Now, the story of Hushpuppies reminded us again of the animal abusing issue. Why are there so many animal abusing cases happening? Why the abusers are so rampantly and fearless? After doing such ugly and brutal things, they can still live their way without being punished at all. Is is the “harmonious society” we seek? What is the significance of harmony? Does it mean in this society, human beings can do anything against the animals? Can we expect our children to grow up psychologically & mentally healthy under such blood-shedding environment? To what kind of directions will this society develop?
There are over 100 countries in the world having promulgated anti-animal-cruelty laws and regulations, including some African countries. However, the People’s Republic of China, the big country with a so called 5000-year history of civilization, still has no laws in this area. It is unbelievable! This is a problem about us as human beings eventually rather than animals - how we treat other beings reflect our attitude to people as well.
A foreigner wrote us an email and said:” It must be awful for you, having this killing going on in your own country”. Yes, we feel not only awful, but shame!
Let’s review these terrible pictures, though we truly don’t want to show them to you. However these pictures can remind us again of the lasting question: How many more Hushpuppies or Phoenix need to die miserably before the abusers can be legally punished?!
